It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abi Ammar (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: I set out (towards Makkah) in the company of Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) and Ka'b, in a state in which we had all entered ihram for Umrah from Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem).
The scholars of hadith infer from this report that entering ihram for Hajj or Umrah from al-Masjid al-Aqsa and starting the journey from there was regarded by the Companions as a commendable and meritorious act.
