It is narrated from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him): It reached me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his wife "to perform tawaf riding in her howdah, inside the mosque, behind those praying." (Ibn Jurayj says:) I asked: "Was it at night or in the day?" He replied: "I do not know." I asked again: "During which seven circuits (of tawaf)?" He replied: "I do not know."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: This report is mursal, but its narrators are narrators of Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim, and the original of this hadith is narrated with a connected chain by Imam al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim in the 'Sahihayn', through Urwah, from Sayyidah Zaynab bint Abi Salamah, from the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). Moreover, some of its routes state explicitly that it was at the time of the Fajr prayer and that it was the occasion of the Farewell Tawaf.
