It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The first person I saw wearing leather socks in Islam was Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him). He came to us while we were in the noble presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), wearing a pair of black leather socks, and he began looking at them and marvelling at them. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, soon these (leather socks) will become plentiful among you." The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, then what should we do with them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wipe over them and pray (wearing them)."
