بَابٌ فِيمَنْ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ .

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ : أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ إِذَا رَضِيَ عَنِ الْعَبْدِ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ سَبْعَةَ أَضْعَافٍ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ لَمْ يَعْمَلْهُ ، وَإِذَا سَخِطَ عَلَى الْعَبْدِ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ سَبْعَةَ أَضْعَافٍ مِنَ الشَّرِّ لَمْ يَعْمَلْهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, when Allah Almighty is pleased with a servant, He praises him sevenfold for good which he did not even do; and when He is displeased with a servant, He mentions him sevenfold for evil which he did not even do."
وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : " إِذَا أَحَبَّ وَإِذَا أَبْغَضَ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " تِسْعَةَ أَضْعَافٍ " . وَرِجَالُهُ وُثِّقُوا عَلَى ضَعْفٍ فِي بَعْضِهِمْ .
In one narration the words are: "When He loves," and the words: "When He dislikes."
Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this narration, though he (Abu Ya'la) transmitted the words "ninefold"; its narrators have been declared trustworthy despite some of them being weak.
