عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عِبَادًا يَعْرِفُونَ النَّاسَ بِالتَّوَسُّمِ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has some servants who recognise people from their faces."
Imam al-Bazzar and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " اتَّقُوا فِرَاسَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ; فَإِنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ بِنُورِ اللَّهِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Beware of the insight (firasah) of the believer, for he sees with the help of the light of Allah."

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - قَالَ : أَفَرَسُ النَّاسِ ثَلَاثَةٌ : صَاحِبَةُ مُوسَى الَّتِي قَالَتْ : ( يَاأَبَتِ اسْتَأْجِرْهُ إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتَأْجَرْتَ الْقَوِيُّ الْأَمِينُ ) ، [ قَالَ : وَمَا رَأَيْتِ مِنْ قُوَّتِهِ ؟ قَالَتْ : جَاءَ إِلَى الْبِئْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ صَخْرَةٌ لَا يُقِلُّهَا كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَرَفَعَهَا ] قَالَ : وَمَا رَأَيْتِ مِنْ أَمَانَتِهِ ؟ قَالَتْ : كُنْتُ أَمْشِي أَمَامَهُ فَجَعَلَنِي خَلْفَهُ . وَصَاحِبُ يُوسُفَ حِينَ قَالَ : ( أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاهُ عَسَى أَنْ يَنْفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا ) . وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ حِينَ اسْتَخْلَفَ عُمَرَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The people of greatest insight are three: the woman in the account of Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him), who said (as mentioned in the Qur'an in these words): 'O my father! Hire him, for the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy.' Sayyiduna Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) asked: How did you know that he is strong? The woman said: He came to the well, on which a heavy stone had been placed that only so many people together could move, but he lifted it. Sayyiduna Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) asked: And how did you know that he is trustworthy? The woman said: I was walking ahead of him, and he put me behind him. (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The second person of greatest insight) is the man in the account of Sayyiduna Yusuf (peace be upon him), who said (whose words the Qur'an has reported thus): 'Make his stay comfortable; perhaps he will benefit us or we will adopt him as a son.' (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The third person of greatest insight) is Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), who appointed Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) as his successor."
وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : مِنْ أَفْرَسِ النَّاسِ ثَلَاثَةٌ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحَدِهِمَا رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ إِنْ كَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ هُوَ الْعَبْدِيَّ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ هُوَ الثَّقَفِيَّ ، فَقَدْ وُثِّقَ عَلَى ضَعْفٍ كَثِيرٍ فِيهِ .
In one narration the words are: "Among the people of greatest insight are three."

وَعَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ : قِيلَ لِعَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ : صِفْ لَنَا أَهْلَ الْأَمْصَارِ ، قَالَ : أَهْلُ الْحِجَازِ أَحْرَصُ النَّاسِ عَلَى فِتْنَةٍ ، وَأَعْجَزُهُمْ عَنْهَا ، وَأَهْلُ الْعِرَاقِ أَحْرَصُهُ عَلَى عِلْمٍ ، وَأَبْعَدُهُ مِنْهُ ، وَأَهْلُ الشَّامِ أَطْوَعُ النَّاسِ لِلْمَخْلُوقِ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ الْخَالِقِ ، وَأَهْلُ مِصْرَ أَكْيَسُ النَّاسِ صَغِيرًا ، وَأَحْمَقُهُ كَبِيرًا . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو أُمَيَّةَ بْنُ يَعْلَى ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ جِدًّا .
Ali bin Zayd narrates: It was said to Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him): Describe for us the people of the various regions. He said: "The people of the Hijaz are the most eager of people for tribulation and the most incapable regarding it. The people of Iraq are the most eager for knowledge and the farthest from it. The people of Syria are the most obedient of people to the creation in disobedience to the Creator. The people of Egypt are the most intelligent of people when they are young and the most foolish when they are old."
