Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Beware of arrogance! For arrogance can be in a man even if he is wearing a shabby cloak."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "In Hell there is a valley called 'Habhab'; it is binding upon Allah Almighty that He lodge every arrogant one in it."
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Azhar bin Sinan, who has been declared trustworthy despite his weakness. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Many hadiths condemning arrogance have already passed in the Book of Faith, in the chapter on the major sins, and in the Book of Adornment.

Abd al-Samad bin Ma'qil states that he heard Wahb say, while addressing the people from the pulpit: "Remember three things from me: beware of following desire, of a bad companion, and of self-admiration."
