Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the campaign of Banu al-Mustaliq, the son of Abdullah bin Ubayy (his name was also Sayyiduna Abdullah) drew his sword against his father and said: "By Allah! It is binding upon me that I will not put this sword back in its sheath until you say that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the honoured one and I am the abased one." So Abdullah bin Ubayy said: "Woe to you! Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the honoured one, and I am the abased one." The narrator said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was told of this, he was pleased with it, and he thanked Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Abdullah (or praised him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Muhammad bin al-Hasan bin Zabalah, who is da'if (weak).

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Abdullah bin Ubayy: He sought permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to kill his father (Abdullah bin Ubayy, the chief of the hypocrites), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not kill your father.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that Urwah bin al-Zubayr did not meet Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Abdullah bin Ubayy.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Abdullah bin Ubayy while he was in the shade of a building. He said: "Ibn Abi Kabshah has raised dust on us." His son, Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Abdullah, said: "O Messenger of Allah! By the One who has honoured you, if you wish, I will bring you his head." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No! Rather, treat your father kindly and keep good company with him."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
