Kindir bin Sa'd narrates the statement of his father: I went for Hajj in the Age of Ignorance, and there a man was circling the House (the Ka'bah) while reciting this verse: "O my Lord, bring my rider 'Muhammad' back to me; bring him back to me, and do me a favour." I asked: "Who is this man, and whom does he mean?" Someone told me: "This is Abd al-Muttalib bin Hashim. His camels went missing, and he sent his grandson to search for them; he has been delayed in coming back. Previously, whatever task he sent him for, he would come back having accomplished it." The narrator said: Meanwhile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, and the camels came too. Abd al-Muttalib said: "O my son, I grieved over you like a woman grieves, a grief that will never leave me."
Abu Ya'la and at-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Abu Talib used to prepare food for the people of Makkah, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, he would not sit down without first placing something beneath him. Abu Talib said: "My nephew has a sense of karamah (that is, dignity)."
At-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Amr bin Jumay', who is a kadhdhab (liar).
