Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Greeting by pointing with one finger is the practice of the Jews."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and these are his (Tabarani's) words. The narrators of Abu Ya'la are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: (The narrator says:) I think he reported it as a marfu' hadith (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) "He is not one of us who imitates others besides us. Do not imitate the Jews or the Christians, for the greeting of the Jews is pointing with the fingers, and the greeting of the Christians is gesturing with the palm. Do not cut short just the hair over the forehead, trim your moustaches and let your beards grow, and do not walk in the mosques and markets wearing only a shirt; rather, there should be a waist-wrapper (izar) with it as well."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
