عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ : قَرَأَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ سُورَةً أَقْرَأَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَكَانَا يَقْرَآنِ بِهَا ، فَقَامَا ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ يُصَلِّيَانِ بِهَا ، فَلَمْ يَقْدِرَا مِنْهَا عَلَى حَرْفٍ ، فَأَصْبَحَا غَادِيَيْنِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَذَكَرَا لَهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّهَا مِمَّا نُسِخَ وَأُنْسِيَ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ فِي غَيْرِ هَذَا الْبَابِ وَالْكَلَامُ عَلَيْهِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Two men of the Ansar wished to recite a surah which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had taught them, and they used to recite it. One night they stood to recite it in prayer, but they were unable to recite even a single letter of it. The next day they came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this to him, and he said: "This is among what has been abrogated and caused to be forgotten."

وَعَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ : أَمَّنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ أُسَيْدٍ بِخُرَاسَانَ ، فَقَرَأَ بِهَا مِنَ السُّورَتَيْنِ : إِنَّا نَسْتَعِينُكَ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُكَ . قَالَ : فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ . قُلْتُ : وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ غَيْرُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فِي سُورَةِ لَمْ يَكُنْ .
Abu Ishaq narrates: Umayyah bin Abdullah bin Khalid bin Usayd led us in prayer in Khurasan, and there he recited the two surahs: "We seek Your help and we seek Your forgiveness." After this the narrator transmitted the full report.
