قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً .

عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُرَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ نَزَلَتْ : الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً أَنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِي نَفَقَاتِ الْخَيْلِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَبُوهُ لَا يُعْرَفَانِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَبُوهُ لَا يُعْرَفَانِ .
Yazid bin Abdullah bin Urayb narrates from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): This verse was revealed: "Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and openly"; this verse was revealed concerning spending on horses.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; Yazid bin Abdullah and his father are both unknown.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ : الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً قَالَ : نَزَلَتْ فِي عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ أَرْبَعَةُ دَرَاهِمَ ، فَأَنْفَقَ بِاللَّيْلِ وَاحِدًا ، وَبِالنَّهَارِ وَاحِدًا ، وَفِي السِّرِّ وَاحِدًا ، وَفِي الْعَلَانِيَةِ وَاحِدًا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates regarding this statement of Allah Almighty, (Allah Almighty says:) "Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and openly." (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas) says: This verse was revealed concerning Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). He had four dirhams; he spent one dirham at night, spent one during the day, spent one secretly and spent one openly.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Wahid bin Mujahid, who is da'if (weak).
