Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Previously, people disliked giving anything to their relatives among the polytheists. They asked about this, and they were granted a concession regarding it, and this verse was revealed: "Their guidance is not your responsibility, but Allah Almighty guides whom He wills, and whatever good you spend is for your own selves," up to: "and you will not be wronged."
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his shaykh Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Sa'id bin Abi Maryam, who is da'if (weak).
Al-Bazzar recorded something similar, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
