عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ نَمِرٍ قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ الْكُوفَةِ عَشِيَّةَ جُمُعَةٍ وَعَلِيٌّ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ ، فَقَامُوا فِي نَوَاحِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَحْكُمُونَ ، فَقَالَ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : كَلِمَةُ حَقٍّ يُبْتَغَى بِهَا بَاطِلٌ ، حُكْمَ اللَّهِ أَنْتَظِرُ فِيكُمْ ، أَحْكُمُ فِيكُمْ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَسُنَّةِ رَسُولِهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَأَقْسِمُ بَيْنَكُمْ بِالسَّوِيَّةِ ، وَلَا نَمْنَعُكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ أَنْ تُصَلُّوا فِيهِ مَا كَانَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ مَعَ أَيْدِينَا ، وَلَا نُقَاتِلُكُمْ حَتَّى تُقَاتِلُونَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ : مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْكُوفِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Kathir bin Namir narrates: I entered the mosque of Kufah on a Friday evening while Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering a sermon to the people. Some people stood up in the corners of the mosque proclaiming (that judgment belongs to Allah alone). Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gestured with his hand like this and said: "A word of truth by which falsehood is intended. I await Allah's judgment concerning you. I will judge among you by the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, and I will distribute among you equally. We will not prevent you from praying in this mosque as long as your hands are with our hands, and we will not fight you until you fight us."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Muhammad bin Kathir al-Kufi, who is da'if (weak).

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ :
" يَا ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ ، هَلْ تَدْرِي كَيْفَ حُكْمُ اللَّهِ فِي مَنْ بَغَى مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ ؟ " . قَالَ : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : " لَا يُجْهَزُ عَلَى جَرِيحِهَا ، وَلَا يُقْتَلُ أَسِيرُهَا ، وَلَا يُطْلَبُ هَارِبُهَا ، وَلَا يُطْلَبُ فَيْؤُهَا " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَقَالَ : لَا يُرْوَى عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِلَّا بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ . قُلْتُ : وَفِيهِ كَوْثَرُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ مَتْرُوكٌ .
" يَا ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ ، هَلْ تَدْرِي كَيْفَ حُكْمُ اللَّهِ فِي مَنْ بَغَى مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ ؟ " . قَالَ : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : " لَا يُجْهَزُ عَلَى جَرِيحِهَا ، وَلَا يُقْتَلُ أَسِيرُهَا ، وَلَا يُطْلَبُ هَارِبُهَا ، وَلَا يُطْلَبُ فَيْؤُهَا " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَقَالَ : لَا يُرْوَى عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِلَّا بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ . قُلْتُ : وَفِيهِ كَوْثَرُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ibn Umm Abd! Do you know what Allah's ruling is concerning those of this Ummah who rebel?" He replied: "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Their wounded are not to be finished off, their captives are not to be killed, those of them who flee are not to be pursued, and their spoils (fay') are not to be sought."
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it, and he (al-Tabarani) said: It is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only with this chain. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Its chain contains Kawthar bin Hakim, who is da'if (weak) and matruk (abandoned).
