Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When you are three people on a journey, appoint one of yourselves as a leader over you. That will be a leader whom the Messenger of Allah appointed (or: that will be a leader about whom the Messenger of Allah gave the command)."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Ammar bin Khalid, who is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you travel, let the one who knows the Qur'an best lead you in prayer, even if he is the youngest of you in age; and when he leads you in prayer, he will also be your leader (amir)."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When they are three people, two should not converse privately to the exclusion of the third; and when three people are on a journey, they should make one of themselves the leader." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: From this Companion, this hadith is mentioned in the Sahih: "Two should not converse privately."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Ubays bin Marhum, who is thiqah (trustworthy).

Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
