بَابُ النَّهْيِ عَنْ مُبَايَعَةِ خَلِيفَتَيْنِ .

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِذَا بُويِعَ لِخَلِيفَتَيْنِ فَاقْتُلُوا الْآخَرَ مِنْهُمَا " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَفِيهِ أَبُو هِلَالٍ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When allegiance is pledged to two caliphs, kill the latter of them."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Abu Hilal, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat.

وَعَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ فِي الْكَلَامِ الَّذِي جَرَى بَيْنَهُمَا فِي بَيْعَةِ يَزِيدَ : وَأَنْتَ يَا مُعَاوِيَةُ أَخْبَرْتَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ فِي الْأَرْضِ خَلِيفَتَانِ فَاقْتُلُوا آخِرَهُمَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sa'id bin Jubayr said: When Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) spoke with Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the pledge of allegiance to Yazid, during that conversation he said to Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him): "O Mu'awiyah! You yourself told me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'When there are two caliphs on the earth, kill the latter of them.'"
