Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who takes omens or for whom omens are taken, or who practises soothsaying or for whom soothsaying is done, or who practises magic or for whom magic is done."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Zam'ah bin Salih, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who takes omens or for whom omens are taken, or who practises soothsaying or for whom soothsaying is done, or who practises magic or for whom magic is done, or who ties a knot (that is, performs magic), the narrator is in doubt, perhaps the words are: or for whom a knot is tied; and whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Ishaq bin al-Rabi', who is thiqah (trustworthy).
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Some hadiths about the magician will come later, at the end of the Book of Prescribed Punishments (al-Hudud), mentioning that the magician deserves to be killed, along with other matters, if Allah wills.
