Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Cupping in the middle of the head is a remedy for madness, leprosy, vitiligo, dullness of the senses, and (pain of the) molars." (The narrator says:) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to call it Umm Munqidh (the mother of the rescuer).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Abd al-Malik al-Nawfali, and he is matruk (abandoned); the statements of Yahya bin Ma'in about him differ.

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he had himself cupped on his head and between his two shoulders. The people said: "O Amir! Are you having yourself cupped?" He said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have himself cupped on the head, and he used to say: 'Whoever sheds this blood, it will not harm him if he does not use anything as medicine (or as treatment).'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it. To my knowledge, Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Khalid does not have the honour of being a Companion. I do not know the narrator named Abu Hazzan. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
