Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us and said: "How excellent are those who do khilal!" The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! Who are meant by those who do khilal?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who do khilal in ablution and those who do khilal after eating. As for the khilal of ablution, it is rinsing the mouth, putting water into the nose, and (passing water) between the fingers. As for the khilal after eating, it concerns what has been eaten, for nothing is harder on the two angels (who stay with a person) than to see food between the teeth of their companion while he is standing in prayer." Al-Tabarani recorded the whole of this report, and Ahmad recorded a part of it. Its chain contains Wasil bin al-Sa'ib, and he is da'if (weak).
