عَنْ سَعْدٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَكَانَ يَخْدِمُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ خِدْمَتَهُ فَقَالَ : " يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَعْتِقْ سَعْدًا " . فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَنَا مَاهِنٌ غَيْرُهُ . قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اعْتِقْ سَعْدًا أَتَتْكَ الرِّجَالُ أَعْتِقْ سَعْدًا أَتَتْكَ الرِّجَالُ " .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى ابْنُ مَاجَهْ طَرَفًا مِنْهُ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), the slave of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked his service. He said: Abu Bakr! Free Sa'd. He said: O Messenger of Allah! We have no other servant besides him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Free Sa'd! Other men will come to you. Free Sa'd! Other men (that is, slaves) will come to you. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded part of this narration.

وَعَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ قَالَ : كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - غُلَامٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ : يَسَارٌ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ يُحْسِنُ الصَّلَاةَ فَأَعْتَقَهُ - فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَهُوَ مَذْكُورٌ فِي الدِّيَاتِ فِي الْمُحَارِبِينَ .

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a slave named Yasar. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that he prayed well, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed him. After this, the narrator mentioned the full hadith.

وَعَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ الْمُتَوَضَّأَ فَأَصَابَ لُقْمَةً - أَوْ قَالَ : كِسْرَةً - فِي مَجْرَى الْغَائِطِ أَوِ الْبَوْلِ فَأَخَذَهَا فَأَمَاطَ عَنْهَا الْأَذَى فَغَسَلَهَا غَسْلًا نِعِمَّا ، ثُمَّ دَفَعَهَا إِلَى غُلَامِهِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا غُلَامُ ذَكِّرْنِي بِهَا إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتُ ، فَلَمَّا تَوَضَّأَ قَالَ لِلْغُلَامِ : يَا غُلَامُ نَاوِلْنِي اللُّقْمَةَ - أَوْ قَالَ : الْكِسْرَةَ - . قَالَ : يَا مَوْلَايَ أَكَلْتُهَا ، قَالَ : اذْهَبْ فَأَنْتَ حُرٌّ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ ! فَقَالَ لَهُ الْغُلَامُ : يَا مَوْلَايَ لِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ أَعْتَقْتَنِي ؟ قَالَ : لِأَنِّي سَمِعْتُ مِنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - تَذْكُرُ عَنْ أَبِيهَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَخَذَ لُقْمَةً أَوْ كِسْرَةً مِنْ مَجْرَى الْغَائِطِ وَالْبَوْلِ فَأَخَذَهَا فَأَمَاطَ عَنْهَا الْأَذَى وَغَسَلَهَا غَسْلًا نِعِمَّا ، ثُمَّ أَكَلَهَا لَمْ تَسْتَقِرَّ فِي بَطْنِهِ حَتَّى يُغْفَرَ لَهُ " . فَمَا كُنْتُ لِأَسْتَخْدِمَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ .

It is reported about Sayyiduna Imam al-Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he entered the place of ablution and found there a morsel (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) a piece lying in the channel where excrement or urine flows. He picked it up, cleaned the filth from it, washed it thoroughly, then gave it to his slave and said: O slave! When I have finished my ablution, remind me of it. When he had performed ablution, he said to the slave: O slave! Hand me that morsel (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) that piece! He replied: O my master! I have eaten it. Sayyiduna Imam al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Go! You are free for the sake of Allah. The slave said to him: O my master! For what reason have you freed me? He said: I heard Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, narrate this from her father, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "Whoever finds a morsel or a piece lying where excrement or urine flows, then takes it, cleans the filth from it, washes it thoroughly and then eats it, he is forgiven before that morsel settles in his stomach." (Imam al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) I will not take service from a man of the people of Paradise.
