Acquiring wealth

Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a message to me and said: "Put on your clothes and your weapons, then come to me." He says: I came to him while he was performing ablution. He looked me over carefully and then lowered his head. Then he said: "I want to send you on an expedition; Allah Almighty will keep you safe and grant you spoils, and I wish for you a good share of wealth." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I did not accept Islam for the sake of wealth; I accepted Islam out of desire for Islam and for the sake of being with the Messenger of Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Amr, how excellent is good (i.e. lawful) wealth in the hands of a good man."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and he said: In the manuscript this word is thus, "na'imma", with a fathah on the nun and a kasrah on the ayn. Abu Ubaydah says: It is to be read with a kasrah on both the nun and the ayn.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, but he recorded these words in it: "I accepted Islam out of desire for Islam and out of desire to be with the Messenger of Allah. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Very well; how excellent is good (i.e. lawful) wealth in the hands of a good man.'"
Abu Ya'la recorded something similar; the narrators of Ahmad and Abu Ya'la are the narrators of the Sahih.

Habib bin Ubayd narrates: Sayyiduna al-Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) had a slave girl who used to sell milk, and Sayyiduna al-Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) would collect the price himself. It was said to him about this: "Subhan Allah! She sells the milk and you keep the price?" He said: "Yes! There is no harm in it. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'A time will certainly come upon people in which nothing will benefit except the dinar and the dirham.'"
Imam Ahmad recorded it in this way.

Al-Tabarani recorded in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, from Sayyiduna al-Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him),
this narration: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A time will come upon people when whoever does not have yellow or white (i.e. gold or silver) with him will not be able to live in comfort."

In al-Mu'jam al-Kabir it is reported from Habib bin Ubayd that he said: I saw Sayyiduna al-Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) in the market. His slave girl was selling milk while he sat collecting the dirhams. He was spoken to about this, and he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When the last times come, dirhams and dinars will be indispensable for people in them; by them a man will maintain his religion and his worldly life." All the routes of this narration revolve around a narrator named Abu Bakr bin Abi Maryam, and his memory had become confused (ikhtalat).

Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that I did not keep anything with me but spent it, he said: "O Jarir, there is no harm on you if you keep your wealth, for this matter has a fixed term (i.e. life may also be long)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Amr bin Abd al-Ghaffar al-Fuqaymi, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Dinars and dirhams are the seals of Allah on His earth; whoever comes with the seal of his master, his need is fulfilled."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Malik bin Anas, who is da'if (weak).
