Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not ever make my grave an idol. May Allah Almighty curse the people who took the graves of their Prophets as places of prostration."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this. Its chain contains a narrator, Ishaq bin Abi Isra'il, who has been criticised because of his suspending judgement (waqf) regarding the Qur'an; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

It is reported about Imam Zayn al-Abidin that he saw a man who came to an open space near the blessed grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), entered it and began making supplication. Imam Zayn al-Abidin (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade him and said: "Shall I not narrate to you a hadith which I heard from my father, from my grandfather, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: 'Do not make my grave a place of festivity, and do not make your houses graves, for wherever you are, your greeting of peace will reach me.'"
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this. Its chain contains a narrator, Hafs bin Ibrahim al-Ja'fari, whom Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned without mentioning any criticism (jarh) of him; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
