عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : أَوْصَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أُصْبِحَ يَوْمَ صَوْمِي دَهِينًا مُتَرَجِّلًا ، وَلَا تُصْبِحْ يَوْمَ صَوْمِكَ عَبُوسًا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ الْيَمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me that on the day I am fasting I should apply oil and keep my hair combed, (saying): Do not frown on the day of your fast.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains al-Yaman bin Sa'id, and he is da'if (weak).

رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ إِلَّا أَنِّي لَمْ أَجِدْ لِأَبِي حَصِينٍ مِنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ سَمَاعًا .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Fast in a state in which you have applied oil.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that I have not found that the narrator Abu Hasin heard from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
