عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ : ( مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا ) ، قَالَ عَنِ الدَّحْدَاحِ : اسْتَقْرَضَنَا رَبُّنَا مِنْ أَمْوَالِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " . قَالَ : فَإِنَّ لِي حَائِطَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا بِالْعَالِيَةِ وَالْآخَرُ بِالسَّافِلَةِ ; فَقَدْ أَقْرَضْتُ خَيْرَهُمَا رَبِّي . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " هُوَ لِلْيَتِيمِ الَّذِي عِنْدَكُمْ " . ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " رُبَّ عِذْقٍ لِابْنِ الدَّحْدَاحِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ مُدَلَّلٍ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) relates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): When this verse was revealed: "Who is it that will give Allah a goodly loan?" Sayyiduna Ibn al-Dahdah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Has our Lord asked us for a loan from our wealth? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. He said: Then I have two orchards, one in the upper part and the other in the lower part, and the better of the two I give to my Lord as a loan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It will be for the orphan children who are with you. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How many a bunch of dates hangs low for Ibn al-Dahdah in Paradise!"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Isma'il bin Qays, and he is da'if (weak).

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ : ( مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا ) قَالَ أَبُو الدَّحْدَاحِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُرِيدُ مِنَّا الْقَرْضَ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ يَا أَبَا الدَّحْدَاحِ " . قَالَ : فَإِنِّي قَدْ أَقْرَضْتُ رَبِّي حَائِطِي ؛ حَائِطًا فِيهِ سِتُّمِائَةِ نَخْلَةٍ . ثُمَّ جَاءَ يَمْشِي حَتَّى أَتَى الْحَائِطَ ، وَفِيهِ أُمُّ الدَّحْدَاحِ فِي عِيَالِهَا فَنَادَاهَا : يَا أُمَّ الدَّحْدَاحِ . قَالَتْ : لَبَّيْكَ . قَالَ : اخْرُجِي فَإِنِّي قَدْ أَقْرَضْتُ رَبِّي حَائِطًا فِيهِ سِتُّمِائَةِ نَخْلَةٍ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: When this verse was revealed: "Who is it that will give Allah a goodly loan?" Sayyiduna Abu al-Dahdah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Does Allah Almighty want a loan from us? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, O Abu al-Dahdah! He said: Then I give my orchard to my Lord as a loan, the orchard that has six hundred date palms in it. Then he walked until he came to his orchard, and Umm al-Dahdah was there among her family. He called out to her: O Umm al-Dahdah! She replied: Here I am. Sayyiduna Abu al-Dahdah said: Come out, for I have given this orchard, which has six hundred date palms in it, to my Lord as a loan.
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Humayd bin Ata' al-A'raj, and he is da'if (weak). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Other hadiths of this kind will come later in the chapter on virtues (manaqib), if Allah wills.
