Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) relates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man gives charity from good, pure earnings, and Allah Almighty accepts only what is pure; so the Most Merciful takes it in His Hand and begins to raise it, just as a person raises the young of an animal." (Here the narrator is in doubt whether one word was different, but the meaning is the same.)
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) relates this as a marfu' hadith: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "An impure thing does not expiate an impure thing; a pure thing expiates an impure thing."
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Qays bin al-Rabi', who has been criticised; Shu'bah and al-Thawri declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
