Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever loves to come into the presence of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty also loves his coming into His presence, and whoever dislikes coming into the presence of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty also dislikes his coming into His presence." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! All of us dislike death." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That does not mean disliking death. Rather, when the final moment of the believer draws near, a bearer of glad tidings comes to him from Allah Almighty. At that time nothing is more beloved to the believer than coming into the presence of Allah Almighty, so he loves coming into the presence of Allah Almighty. And when the final moment of the wicked person and the disbeliever draws near, there comes to him the evil towards which he is to go (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) the evil which he is to face, so he dislikes coming into the presence of Allah Almighty, and Allah Almighty also dislikes his coming into His presence."
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.

Ata' bin al-Sa'ib narrates: The first time I came to know Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla, it happened like this: I saw an elderly man whose hair was white, riding a donkey and following a funeral. I heard him say: So-and-so son of so-and-so narrated to me that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever loves to come into the presence of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty also loves his coming into His presence, and whoever dislikes coming into the presence of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty also dislikes his coming into His presence." The narrator says: The people began to weep, so he said: "Why are you weeping?" The people said: "We dislike death." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is not what is meant. Rather, when a man's final moment draws near, if he is one of those brought near (to Allah), then for him there is rest, delight and the Garden of Bliss (as glad tidings). When a person is given glad tidings of this, he loves coming into the presence of Allah Almighty, and Allah Almighty loves his coming even more. And if the person is one of the deniers who have gone astray, then he will be entertained with boiling water and he will be entered into Hell. When he is informed of this, he dislikes coming into the presence of Allah Almighty, and Allah Almighty dislikes his coming even more."
Ahmad recorded it. Ata' bin al-Sa'ib has been criticised.
