Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When the son of Adam prostrates, Satan says: 'The son of Adam was commanded to prostrate and he prostrated, so Paradise will be his; I was commanded to prostrate and I refused, so the Fire will be mine.'" The narrator said: Or words similar to this.
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Kinanah bin Jabalah, whom Abu Hatim declared thiqah (trustworthy) while others declared him da'if (weak); and a narrator, Suhayl bin Abi Hazm, whom Yahya bin Ma'in declared thiqah (trustworthy) while a group declared him da'if (weak). The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
Abu Ishaq narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When Satan sees the son of Adam in prostration, he cries out and says: "Oh, ruin! The ruin of Satan! Allah Almighty commanded the son of Adam to prostrate, that Paradise would be his, and he obeyed; and He commanded me to prostrate, and I disobeyed, so the Fire will be mine."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that the narrator Abu Ishaq did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
