عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ " قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى الثَّانِي ؟ قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ " قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى الثَّانِي ؟ قَالَ : " وَعَلَى الثَّانِي " وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " سَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَحَاذُوا بَيْنَ مَنَاكِبِكُمْ وَلِينُوا فِي أَيْدِي إِخْوَانِكُمْ وَسُدُّوا الْخَلَلَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدْخُلُ فِيمَا بَيْنَكُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْحَذَفِ" - يَعْنِي : أَوْلَادَ الضَّأْنِ الصِّغَارَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ مُوَثَّقُونَ .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon those in the first row." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah, and upon the second row too?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon those in the first row." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah, and upon the second row too?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Upon the second too." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep your rows straight, keep your shoulders level, be gentle in the hands of your brothers, and close the gaps, for Satan enters in between you as though he were a small goat." The narrator says: What is meant is as though he were the young of a small goat.

وَعَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ - أَوِ : الصُّفُوفِ الْأُوَلِ " .

Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon those in the first row (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) upon those in the first rows."

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ - تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى - وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ " .
