بَابُ الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ وَأَلْبَانِهَا .

عَنْ ذِي الْغُرَّةِ قَالَ : عَرَضَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَسِيرُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تُدْرِكُنَا الصَّلَاةُ وَنَحْنُ فِي أَعْطَانِ الْإِبِلِ ، فَنُصَلِّي فِيهَا ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا " . قَالَ : فَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِهَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " . قَالَ : فَنُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " نَعَمْ " . قَالَ : أَفَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِهَا ؟ قَالَ : " لَا " .
رَوَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَسَمَّاهُ يَعِيشَ الْجُهَنِيَّ ، وَيُعْرَفُ بِذِي الْغُرَّةِ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ مُوَثَّقُونَ .
رَوَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَسَمَّاهُ يَعِيشَ الْجُهَنِيَّ ، وَيُعْرَفُ بِذِي الْغُرَّةِ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ مُوَثَّقُونَ .
Sayyiduna Dhu al-Ghurrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Bedouin came before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was travelling along. He asked: O Messenger of Allah, the time of prayer comes upon us while we are in the camels' pens; may we pray there? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: No. He asked: Should we perform ablution again after eating their meat? He replied: Yes. He asked: May we pray in the sheep pens? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes. He asked: Should we perform ablution again after eating their meat? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: No.
Abdullah bin Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir) recorded this report. They named this Companion Ya'ish al-Juhani, who is known as Dhu al-Ghurrah. The narrators of Imam Ahmad have been declared trustworthy.

وَعَنْ مَوْلًى لِمُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ أَوْ عَنِ ابْنٍ لِمُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ أَلْبَانِ الْإِبِلِ وَلُحُومِهَا ، وَلَا يَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ أَلْبَانِ الْغَنَمِ وَلُحُومِهَا ، وَيُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِهَا .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ رَجُلٌ لَمْ يُسَمَّ .

It is narrated from a freed slave of Musa bin Talhah, or perhaps from a son of Musa bin Talhah, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution after (drinking or eating) camel's milk or meat, but he would not perform ablution after (consuming) sheep's milk or meat, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray in their pens.

وَعَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " تَوَضَّئُوا مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ ، وَلَا تُصَلُّوا فِي مَنَاخِهَا ، وَلَا تَتَوَضَّئُوا مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ ، وَصَلُّوا فِي مَرَابِضِهَا " .
قُلْتُ : لَهُ حَدِيثٌ عِنْدَ ابْنِ مَاجَهْ فِي الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ ، وَفِي الِاحْتِجَاجِ بِهِ اخْتِلَافٌ .
قُلْتُ : لَهُ حَدِيثٌ عِنْدَ ابْنِ مَاجَهْ فِي الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ ، وَفِي الِاحْتِجَاجِ بِهِ اخْتِلَافٌ .
Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ablution after eating camel meat, and do not pray where they are tethered; do not perform ablution anew after eating mutton, and pray in their pens." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) Imam Ibn Majah has recorded a hadith from this Companion concerning performing ablution after drinking their milk.

وَعَنْ سَمُرَةَ السُّوَائِيِّ قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّا أَهْلُ بَادِيَةٍ وَمَاشِيَةٍ ، فَهَلْ نَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ وَأَلْبَانِهَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " . قُلْتُ : فَهَلْ نَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ وَأَلْبَانِهَا ؟ قَالَ : " لَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .

Sayyiduna Samurah al-Suwa'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked the Messenger of Allah, saying: We are people who live in the open country and among livestock; should we perform ablution after eating camel meat or drinking their milk? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. I asked: Should we perform ablution after eating mutton or drinking sheep's milk? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: No.

وَعَنْ سُلَيْكٍ الْغَطَفَانِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " تَوَضَّئُوا مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ ، وَلَا تَوَضَّئُوا مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ ، وَصَلُّوا فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ ، وَلَا تُصَلُّوا فِي مَبَارِكِ الْإِبِلِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، وَثَّقَهُ شُعْبَةُ وَسُفْيَانُ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ النَّاسُ .

Sayyiduna Sulayk al-Ghatafani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Perform ablution after eating camel meat, and do not perform ablution again after eating mutton; pray in the sheep pens, and do not pray where the camels kneel."
