Sayyidah Umm al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with her) relates: Whenever Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) said anything, he would keep smiling while saying it. I said to him: "I fear that people may consider you foolish." He said: "Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said anything, he would keep smiling while saying it."
Imam Ahmad and Imam Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Habib bin Amr. Imam Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) says: He is majhul (unknown).

Sayyiduna Safwan bin Assal al-Muradi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time he was in the mosque, reclining against a red cloak of his. I said to him: "O Messenger of Allah! I have come to seek knowledge." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Welcome to the seeker of knowledge! The angels spread their wings for the one who seeks knowledge, and (so great are their numbers) that they are one above another until they reach the lowest heaven, out of their love for what (the student) is seeking." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Abu Dawud and others have recorded a narration from this Companion other than this one (but its basic content is the same).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): "Indeed, Allah Almighty has commanded me to teach you and not to treat you harshly, and to keep you close and not to keep you distant. So it is now binding upon me to teach you, and it is binding upon you to retain it."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Muhammad bin Ubaydullah bin Abi Rafi', who is munkar al-hadith (his narrations are rejected), and another narrator, Abbad bin Ya'qub, is a Rafidi.
