Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9996

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: On the occasion of the Battle of Badr the enemy appeared few in our eyes, so much so that I asked my companion beside me: "What do you think, how many are they? Do you think they are seventy?" He said: "I think they are a hundred." Then we seized a man from among them and asked him, and he said: "We are a thousand."
Al-Tabarani recorded it.
