Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Badr we were praying behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled during the prayer. When he had completed the prayer, we said: "O Messenger of Allah, we saw you smile." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Mika'il passed by me with traces of dust on his wing, returning from pursuing the enemy. He laughed on seeing me, so I smiled back at him."
Abu Ya'la recorded it. Its chain contains al-Wazi' bin Nafi', who is matruk (abandoned).
