Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Badr, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had with him a hundred camels, water-carrying camels and others (and she-camels), and he had two horses with him. Sayyiduna al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) rode one of them, and Sayyiduna Mus'ab bin Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) rode the other by turns. The narrator states: The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept riding the camels by turns on the way. The narrator states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Marthad bin Abi Marthad al-Ghanawi (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the ally of Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him), used to ride a camel by turns.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Abu Shaybah Ibrahim bin Uthman, who is da'if (weak).
