وَعَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا عَنِ الْعَقَبَةِ قَالَ : شَهِدَهَا سَبْعُونَ فَوَاثَقَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبَدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَخَذْتُ وَأَعْطَيْتُ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ .
Abu al-Zubayr narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the Pledge of al-Aqabah. He said that seventy men were present at it; they made a covenant with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna al-Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) was holding the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have taken and I have given (that is, the matter is settled)."
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good), though there is weakness in him.
