Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9856

Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We gave the pledge of allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the same matters on which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had taken the pledge from the women, and it was settled that whoever among us died without having committed any of those (sins), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guaranteed Paradise for him; and if any of us died in a state where he had committed one of those (sins) and the prescribed punishment (hadd) had been carried out on him, then that (carrying out of the punishment) would be an expiation; and whoever among us died in a state where he had committed one of those crimes and Allah Almighty had concealed it for him, then his reckoning rests with Allah Almighty."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Sayf bin Harun, whom Abu Nu'aym declared thiqah (trustworthy) while a group declared him da'if (weak); the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
