عَنْ مُعَاذٍ - يَعْنِي : ابْنَ جَبَلٍ - قَالَ : بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَلَى قُرًى عَرَبِيَّةٍ ، فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ آخُذَ حَظَّ الْأَرْضِ . قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : حَظُّ الْأَرْضِ : الثُّلُثُ وَالرُّبْعُ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to Arab villages and instructed me to collect the share of the land. Sufyan says: The share of the land means one third or one quarter (of the produce).
