Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9759

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the kawdan (a slow, non-Arab horse) nothing; in view of strength and quality, he gave it less than the share of an Arab (horse). The narrator says: "Kawdan" means a slow non-Arab horse (birdhawn).
This narration has been recorded by Imam al-Tabarani. Its chain contains a narrator, Abu Bilal al-Ash'ari, and he is da'if (weak).
