Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9755

Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give Banu Abd Shams or Banu Nawfal anything from the khumus (one-fifth), whereas he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give Banu Hashim and Banu al-Muttalib a share of it. When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) divided the khumus, he too divided it according to the way of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), except that he did not give to the relatives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the way the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to. But Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) continued to give to them, and after him Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) also continued to give to them from it. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of it is recorded in the Sahih.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
