Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on his way, and when he reached al-Ji'ranah, the people crowded around him and his cloak caught on a tree. He said: "Give me back my cloak. Do you fear that I will not divide among you? Even if there were livestock as numerous as the trees of Tihamah, I would divide it among you, and then you would not find me a coward, a miser or a liar." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hand over every thread and needle, for on the Day of Resurrection embezzlement will be a disgrace, fire and shame for the one who does it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "From the spoils I will not get (extra) even as much as this hair", taking a hair from the camel's shoulder as he said it, "except for the khumus (one-fifth), and the khumus too will be returned to you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Uthman bin Makhlad, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but has some weakness.
