A man from the people of Egypt narrated concerning Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that Muhammad bin Abi Bakr was taken captive, and he refused. Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) kept questioning him, for he wished that he would claim a guarantee of safety. Then Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even the lowest of the people may grant protection on behalf of the people."
Imam Ahmad, Imam Abu Ya'la and Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration, and its chain contains a man who is not named. The remaining narrators of Imam Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
