Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9502

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts one day in the path of Allah, Allah Almighty removes him from Hell by a distance of seventy years; and whoever dies while standing guard is saved from the trial of the grave, and his provision continues for him." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and Ibn Majah recorded only the part of this narration about fasting.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Rishdin bin Sa'd, who is da'if (weak).
This narration is strengthened by mutaba'at (corroborating chains).
