Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9495

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every deceased person's deeds are sealed, except the one who stands guard in the path of Allah, for the reward of his deeds continues for him until Allah Almighty raises him again." In one narration the words are: "And he is kept safe from the trial of the grave."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good).
