Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9360

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) says: One day we were in Madinah when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us riding a horse. Then he went off until he disappeared from our sight. Then he came back, the horse running swiftly, either because he was urging it on or because it was running fast by itself. It passed by a tree, a bird flew up from that tree, the horse stumbled, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell from it onto hard ground. We hurried to him; he was sitting, and both his knees, the heads of both his hip bones, his shoulders and his face had been injured, and the skin had come off his face. We sat around him and began to weep.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Abbas bin al-Fadl al-Ansari, who is da'if (weak).
