عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ لِأُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ - خَتَّانَةٍ كَانَتْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ - : " إِذَا خَفَضْتِ فَأَشِمِّي وَلَا تُنْهِكِي ، فَإِنَّهُ أَسْرَى لِلْوَجْهِ ، وَأَحْظَى عِنْدَ الزَّوْجِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Umm Atiyyah, a woman who performed circumcisions in Madinah: "When you circumcise (a girl), only trim lightly and do not go to excess (in cutting the skin), for that is better for (the beauty of) the face and more pleasing to the husband."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
