وَعَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ خَمْسَةً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُمُّونَ شَوَارِبَهُمْ وَيُعْفُونَ لِحَاهُمْ وَيُصَفِّرُونَهَا ، أَبَا أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيَّ ، وَالْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الثُّمَّالِيَّ ، وَالْمِقْدَامَ بْنَ مَعْدِي كَرْبَ ، وَعَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ بُسْرٍ ، وَعُتْبَةَ بْنَ عَبْدٍ السُّلَمِيَّ ، كَانُوا يَقُمُّونَ مَعَ طَرَفِ الشَّفَةِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ جَيِّدٌ .

Shurahbil bin Muslim narrates: I saw five Companions who kept their moustaches short, let their beards grow and dyed them yellow (they are): Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna al-Hajjaj bin Amir al-Thumali (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna al-Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him). They used to keep their moustaches short, level with the edge of the lip.
