Uthman bin Ubaydullah bin Abi Rafi' narrates that he saw Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Usayd al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): they would cut their moustaches so short that it was like shaving, and they kept their beards grown. They would pluck the hair from their armpits. In one narration the wording is: they would clip their nails.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. I do not know this narrator Uthman; the remaining narrators of one of its chains are the narrators of the Sahih.
