وَعَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي وَسَأَلْتُهُ ؟ فَقَالَ : كَانَ خِضَابُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - الْوَرْسَ وَالزَّعْفَرَانَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ خَلَا بَكْرِ بْنِ عِيسَى ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .

Abu Malik al-Ashja'i narrates: I heard my father, and I had asked him, and he said that in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) we used to apply wars and saffron as dye.
