Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8770

Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man intended to give the pledge of allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that there was a trace of yellow on his body, so he declined to accept his pledge. He said: "The perfume of men is that whose scent is apparent and whose colour is hidden, and the perfume of women is that whose colour is apparent and whose scent is hidden."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibrahim bin Bashshar al-Ramadi, who is da'if (weak), though he has been declared trustworthy. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
