It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sawad bin Amr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am a man to whom beauty has been made beloved, and you can see what I have been given of it, so much so that I do not even like anyone's sandal strap to be finer than my sandal strap (here the narrator is unsure about one word). Is that part of arrogance?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, then what is arrogance?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who turns away from the truth and looks down on people."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
