عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ يَوْمًا السُّوقَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَجَلَسَ إِلَى الْبَزَّازِينَ ، فَاشْتَرَى سَرَاوِيلَ بِأَرْبَعَةِ دَرَاهِمَ ، وَكَانَ لِأَهْلِ السُّوقِ وَزَّانٌ يَزِنُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " اتَّزِنْ وَأَرْجِحْ " فَقَالَ الْوَزَّانُ : إِنَّ هَذِهِ لَكَلِمَةٌ مَا سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : كَفَى بِكَ مِنَ الرَّهَقِ وَالْجَفَاءِ فِي دِينِكَ أَلَّا تَعْرِفَ نَبِيَّكَ ؟ فَطَرَحَ الْمِيزَانَ وَوَثَبَ إِلَى يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُقَبِّلَهَا ، فَحَذَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَدَهُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا ؟ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ هَذَا الْأَعَاجِمُ بِمُلُوكِهَا وَلَسْتُ بِمَلِكٍ إِنَّمَا أَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ " . فَوَزَنَ وَأَرْجَحَ وَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - السَّرَاوِيلُ ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَذَهَبْتُ لِأَحْمِلَهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ : " صَاحِبُ الشَّيْءِ أَحَقُّ بِشَيْئِهِ أَنْ يَحْمِلَهُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ ضَعِيفًا فَيَعْجِزَ عَنْهُ فَيُعِينُهُ أَخُوهُ الْمُسْلِمُ " . قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّكَ لِتَلْبَسُ السَّرَاوِيلَ ؟ قَالَ : " أَجَلْ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْحَضَرِ ، وَفِي اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ ، فَإِنِّي أُمِرْتُ بِالسِّتْرِ فَلَمْ أَجِدْ شَيْئًا أَسْتَرَ مِنْهُ " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ يُوسُفُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day I entered the market with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down with the cloth sellers, and he bought a pair of trousers (sirwal) for four dirhams. Among the people of the market there was a weigher who used to do the weighing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Weigh, and keep (the other party's scale) heavier." The weigher said: "I have never heard these words from anyone before." Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said to him: "It is enough of foolishness and of harshness in your religion that you did not recognise your Prophet!" He put the scale aside and bent towards the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), wanting to kiss it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pulled his hand away from him and said: "What is this? The non-Arabs do this with their kings. I am not a king; I am only one of you." Then the man weighed, keeping the other's scale heavier, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the trousers. Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came forward to carry them, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The owner of a thing has more right to carry his own thing, unless he is weak and unable to carry it, in which case his Muslim brother should help him." Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Will you wear trousers?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! While travelling and while at home, by night and by day (I will use them), for I have been commanded to cover myself, and I have not found anything that covers more than this."
