Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin al-Sa'ib al-Hilali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates; he was the nephew of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). He narrates: Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to me: Come, my nephew, so that I may perform on you the ruqyah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform. Then Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) recited: "Seeking blessing by the name of Allah Almighty, I perform ruqyah on you; may Allah Almighty heal you from every illness that is in you. O Lord of mankind, remove the affliction; grant healing; there is no healer but You."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Salih, the scribe of al-Layth. He has been declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is weakness in him; in any case its chain is hasan (good), and the chain of al-Mu'jam al-Awsat is better.
